Robert Bastress is the owner of the Integrative Medicine Center, LLC and is a
National Board Certified Licensed Acupuncturist. He earned his Masters degree at
the Traditional Acupuncture Institute in Columbia, Maryland in 1999. Rob is also a
graduate of the Jaffe Institute of Spiritual and Medical Healing with a specialty in
Spiritual Ministry.
Rob is in his 10th year of private practice as an acupuncturist. He specializes in
acupuncture pain management, digestive disorders, and women’s health. For the
past several years Rob has studied with Acupuncture Master Teachers from China
and uses a combination of Dr. Tan’s balance method as well as Dr. Ming Qing Zhu’
s scalp acupuncture. These two methods of acupuncture work very well to
balance the body’s meridian and organ systems. Our success rate with patients
has skyrocketed with these two forms of acupuncture. Please check our patient
testimonials page.
Another special characteristic that Rob brings to his patients is his background in
Spiritual Ministry. Many people come to the center for healing a physical ailment,
but the real roots of the illness are an emotional situation either at work, in
personal relationships, or deeper family issues. Rob helps to guide patients of
varying belief systems and backgrounds to find the source of spiritual connection
within their own heart. This heart connection within brings true and complete
healing for many emotional, spiritual and physical ailments.
One of Rob’s goals is community outreach and awareness of holistic healthcare.
He has a background in teaching Crane Style Qi Gong, a Chinese medical
exercise, and hapkido, a South Korean martial art, which he practiced and taught
for 15 years. Over the past five years, at the Hagerstown Community College Rob
has taught, “Healing the Heart of Illness” an introduction to spiritual healing, “Crane
Style Qi Gong” and “The Healthy Living Series” an introduction to Chinese medical
theory for everyday use. He also provides free community lectures on natural
healthcare throughout the tri-state area.
We support local charities such as the American Red Cross, Breast Cancer
Awareness group of Cumberland Valley, CASA, and Habitat for Humanity.
Rob lives in Warfordsburg, Pa with his wife Na’ima and his 6 year old son, Salim.
They are part owners of “The Farm of Peace” an international retreat center that
focuses on Spiritual development, Peace building and international efforts in
conflict resolution.
